After 180 days, here are all the indoor pollutants retained by theBreath®

7 May 2023 | theBreath

Do you remember theBreath®, the revolutionary printable fabric that can hold and break down indoor pollutants by harnessing the natural movement of air? Well, we introduced you to it a few months ago, when we at Diatecx decided to enthusiastically embrace this excellent product, patented by Anemotech, and include it in our print media portfolio.

We kept it on exhibition for more than 180 days, on Via Tortona in Milan, at Milan’s DecorLab, the laboratory of ideas and showroom dedicated to the world of interior design. At the end of the exhibition period, we tested the panels in laboratory analysis to measure the effectiveness of the fabric in retaining pollutants and harmful agents in the air.

Indoor pollutants “breathed in” by theBreath®

The tests were carried out by VeronaLab in Villafranca (VR) and the data revealed the extraordinary capabilities of theBreath®! Without going into the analytical detail of the results, which are in any case available for those who wish to dig into the numbers and normative references, we can state two substantial things:

  1. Thanks to this technology we have been able to give greater healthiness to Decor Lab’s environments and therefore increase the well-being and safety of the people who work there, attend classes or visit the space, by retaining important percentages of pollutants in the air such as Nitrogen Oxides, Sulfur Oxides and Toluene.
  2. Air quality improvement is achieved in a totally sustainable way, without the need to use energy but simply by the natural movement of air.

TheBreath panels are therefore not only beautiful to look at and can be integrated as a decorative element in any type of environment, but they also offer a concrete solution to increase people’s well-being and bring to acceptable levels (according to OMS data) the pollutants that are unfortunately now common in major Italian cities.

An important clarification: the presence of pollutants is not due to the printing of the fabrics used in theBreath® : in fact, Anemotech has conducted laboratory surveys and has shown that the printing technologies normally used for indoor customization and decoration have no effect on the presence of these substances, which are mostly concentrated in the air and in the ventilation systems of buildings.

This test is another case history that highlights how the technology Diatecx has chosen to offer something different and innovative is of absolute value and guarantees excellent results. We care about the health of people in work, residential and entertainment spaces.

How theBreath® technology works

theBreath® is the result of more than 3 years of research by a pool of scientists, engineers and researchers who have worked to develop the first fabric capable of absorbing harmful particulate in the air and disaggregating it, reintroducing clean air back into circulation.

It is the first patented air purification technology that works with zero emissions, without being activated by energy sources, thus totally sustainable.

Its revolutionary effectiveness is in its fabric structure, which forms the air sanitizing mechanism; nanomolecules capture and disaggregate pollutant particles contained in indoor air passing through the multilayer.

The fabric is composed of three layers that work in synergy with each other. Air passes through the meshes, where the heart of the technology (a core activated by nano molecules) captures and breaks down pollutants. The air thus continues its natural movement, returning to a cleaner, more breathable circulation.

TheBreath®’s ability to trap and break down pollutant particles in the air makes it an extremely effective medium for use in enclosed environments, such as homes, schools, offices, hospitals, and transportation.
